Yusuf Hikmet Bayur was a very famous historian and politician in Turkey. His academic and political careers were exemplary, for he was a distinguished diplomat and a rather prolific writer on the subjects of modern Turkish history. When he died in 1980, he left behind a voluminous amount of work on almost every aspect of modern Turkish history. His book on the Balkan Wars of 1912-1913 and the Turkish War of Independence are still among those most referred to on these subjects. His text on India is a unıque collection of the history of India in Turkish.
